Happy birthday, sis!

Happy 12th birthday to my kooky...

Big-headed...

Sometimes obnoxious...

...yet loveable, sweet (when she wants to be) and BEAUTIFUL little sister!

I would post more, but I am tired, especially after playing Capture The Flag with my sister and her friends at her party today (in order to make the teams fair), my throat hurts, and my leg hurts, and I'm supposed to go to bed. :)

Yarn Along

Well, I'm working on quite a few projects at the moment... that hat for my uncle? Yeah... after having to start over numerous times, I gave it up because it was taking a long time, and now I'm doing a scarf.

This is definitely going better than the hat was, I'm just kind of bummed that the project has been taking so long. Especially since it's practically spring. :P

This next scarf I'm working on is for the Etsy shop I want to start soon, hopefully in April.

It's warm, yet open - a good spring scarf. :)

This NEXT scarf I'm knitting for my sister's birthday, which is on Sunday. I'm going to have to work hard at it to get it finished by then, but I love the colors!

For reading, I've been reading books with information about rabbits. I'm hopefully going to get Angora rabbits in late May, and though I read a lot about rabbits when we thought we might get them LAST year, I thought it best if my memory could be refreshed... so, yes. That's been fun!

And, since I seem to be in the habit of posting random pictures at the end of my posts, here is a picture I took of my younger sister today outside, since the weather was sooo lovely today! As you can see, the picture has been highly edited. I rather like it. So does my sister. ;)

Thanks to Ginny over at Small Things  for hosting the yarn-along!

Excited!!!

I'm so excited!!! (Though you probably guessed that from my post title... :P)

So, a week ago I was doing research on Angora rabbits (which are rabbits that you use their wool for spinning yarn) for a homework assignment I was supposed to do (and I didn't even end up writing about Angoras after all...), which got me thinking about Angora rabbits again. I had been wanting rabbits for over a year now, but we've never found anyplace that had them, or we found places that looked promising but weren't selling a litter for another YEAR, or places who hadn't updated their websites in a while so we didn't even know if they DID that anymore... well, after I told my mom this, she looked up Angoras on the internet, and found two places a couple of hours away from us that looked pretty promising. So we looked into one of the sites, and they updated their blog recently, and they had a litter that was just born....so, pretty promising! I e-mailed them sort of asking for information, and they replied back quickly saying they'd love to help me choose and just get a good rabbit. We really couldn't go above $30 per rabbit (and we were thinking of getting two) and she said that she'd be willing to sell us two of her rabbits from a litter due at the end of this month for $50 total. And we're most likely going to end up buying them! After a year of searching, and researching how to CARE for rabbits, I'm finally gonna most likely get some! :D

Also, I sent in an application to go to a week-long girls camp that's at the end of the summer, and yesterday I found out that I got in! So, two things to be excited about!

And one of my FAVORITE TV shows, Once Upon A Time, is on in 20 minutes! THREE things to be excited about!

And here is a pretty picture I took AGES ago of a part of a Christmas tree.... because I felt like it. :)

Yarn Along

Well, for my first yarn-along I am going to show you some pictures of a hat I am knitting for my uncle!

Yeah.... it used to look like this:

But then I was trying to switch from the circular needle to four double-point needles and it was all twisted and weird and then I dropped stitches... and since I thought the stripes were uneven in one spot anyways I just started over. :P

Now, what I'm reading! Well, I just got a book from the library with like 210 Grimm's fairytales in it?? Of course, most of them are under 10 pages long. And there's lots of pictures!

I've been wanting to read some original Grimm's fairy tales for a while now (along with original Shakespeare) and finally requested this one from the library and it came in today! I've read the first three so far. I've heard that the originals of some are pretty gruesome in places.... like in Cinderella... but so far I haven't encountered anything too creepy. I've only read the first three stories though.

And now, because I want to, here is a picture of this past Saturday's breakfast we had, because it was National Ice Cream for breakfast day and I never got to do a blog post about that.

Waffles, ice cream and sausages on the side. Yummy!

And now I am back, after neglecting my poor blog for nearly a month! *waits for applause. Hears nothing but crickets chirping* Aw, nuts. :P

So, things that have been happening lately.... well, I've been super duper uber busy, what with going to band on Wednesdays, and having my online computer course classes at home and writing classes going to a homeschooling friend's house both on Tuesdays, and then all the homework for those things, and knitting projects, and eating, and sleeping.... and reading and being lazy. Sometimes I know I am super busy, or anyways I am supposed to be, but I put off doing things so I'm not really busy. That is, until I do things last minute. Rather a bad strategy....

Yes, I am babbling. I apologize.

I really don't know what to say now. So I guess I will tell more about myself.

About band.... I play flute and this is my 6th year of playing flute in the homeschool group band. It is a ton of fun, although the songs this year are a real challenge. But, I do enjoy a challenge! One of the songs is a five-flute ensemble piece of "Over the Rainbow" with four of us more experienced flutes plus our band director who's taking on the fifth part, and I have a solo! Aaah! But I've already got it down, and it's such a fun piece, really jazzy!

Another instrument I've been playing for quite a while is piano. I started playing piano a year before I took up flute. I remember when I was younger and I wanted to learn flute, but I ended up learning piano first. :P But I absolutely love playing the piano. I love being able to pour out my emotions into it; whether I'm angry and so playing a really fast flying-fingers type piece, or maybe sad or thoughtful and playing Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata". Or feeling happy and bubbly and just playing whatever comes to mind.

Well, that is all I can think of for now - not particularly interesting - so, au revoir!

A very interesting discovery...

Tonight my mother informed me that she had downloaded a book on her Kindle that I am now really curious to read!

It is called, "His Good Opinion: A Mr. Darcy Novel" by Nancy Kelley. It is like Pride and Prejudice from Mr. Darcy's viewpoint!

I really want to read it because I am curious about how Nancy Kelley will keep with the Jane Austen spirit.... I mean, I know that nobody could ever write exactly like Jane Austen, especially nowadays, but I at least hope that she will have tried to keep everything.... well, straight, for lack of a better word. From what little my mom read to me from a part of it (she's keeping it all to herself until she's finished :P) I could tell that it didn't sound like Jane Austen - that's to be expected - but I do hope she gets the character's personalities right... but I am glad that somebody did try to write this all from his viewpoint!

Plus, I just love Mr. Darcy! Especially after having recently finished re-reading the book for the 3rd time, and then watched the 2001 mini-series version, and now hearing about this book.

So, we shall see. :)

This sounds like I'm advertising something. And maybe I am. :P

Today I got my eBook from ITonRamp for studying for the computer class I'm starting next week!

ITonRamp is a Christian program which has courses for learning about, well, computers. They have various courses, from the basic "Home Track" which is learning how to take care of and troubleshoot your home computer (and which is the one I'm taking) and it takes 5 weeks and is fairly easy to follow, to the "A+ Track" which is 12 weeks long and covers pretty much everything you need to know to take the A+ Certification test, and if you pass that, you are completely certified and ready for a position such as IT Administrator or something in the computer field. Many companies like Dell and other computer companies require this certification to get a job there! The courses come with an eBook or a book shipped to you, depending on the course you take, and forums where you can do a lot of questions and answers, and webinars where you will watch videos to help you better understand the materials in the books. The really cool thing is, is that you're not going to college for a 4-year degree and you are completely certified, and on the website (http://www.itonramp.com/) they recommend the courses for as young as 12 years of age! (That's the Home Track course, all the other courses are recommended 14 and up). The courses are pretty pricey, but they sure beat the price of even going to a cheap community college!

As much as I would like to go to "off to college", I know that mainly it's for the experience that I would like to go, and I really can't think of any excuse to go to college when I can do this for cheaper. So if you don't particularly care for getting a college experience and would much rather do things for a better price, and if you're interested in computers, you might want to consider this.

Or, if you just want to get a basic knowledge of your computer and want to know how to fix it and keep it running strong, you can just do the Home Track! Never again would you have to pay someone to fix your computer for you whenever something goes wrong. ;) Of course, it does cost $200...

Besides the Home Track course and the A+ course, there is also the "Network+ Track" (which is also 12 weeks and the same price as the A+ track) and the "HTML: Step One in Web Design" course, which is more expensive than the Home Track but less expensive than the A+ and Network+ tracks.

For more information you can click on the link I put up. :)
